Paula Stanley
Biography…
My work emanates from the transient things in nature, but hardly ever directly from nature. Forms/words may propose themselves and trigger a response.
I tend to go straight to the canvas in a particular frame of mind, with a photographic reference, pencil sketches, images remembered; in this way I try to invoke a base work from which to develop the painting.
The paintings themselves may then issue from a dialogue between applications of pure colour and vigorous erasures with pallet knives and rags soaked in turpentine.
